Going Into the work Place Can Be Daunting, But Sammy Aced It!

If you had paid us a visit over the last couple of weeks you may have been served by our work experience student Sammy Mills.

Sammy is the youngest child of a one of our regulars and we were keen to help him out with some employment experience. Sammy, a year ten student at Carr Manor Community School was tasked with finding his own placement and we were happy to help. Another pair of hands is always welcome but we were mindful that Sammy is just 14 years old so he was prohibited from lifting heaving objects or being left in charge!

Sammy, when not a school, is a keen cyclist and attends drama and music groups in his spare time. He really enjoyed working with us as he said it boosted his confidence because 'there is a difference between confidence on stage and in real life' according to Sammy.

Sammy was a great help during his two week placement. He was very confident with our till system and picked up how to add products, adjust stock, place orders and serve customers very quickly. He fitted in well and I think that many of our customers thought he was a new employee! He did many a task that we'd been meaning to do for ages.

Good luck Sammy with the rest of your studies and with your upcoming role as Danny in Greece!
