Healthier than Olive Oil
Rapeseed oil contains much more omega 3 than olive oil...actually 11 times! It's also a amazing source of omega 6 and 9 too! The oil contains half the saturated fat of olive oil and is a good source of vitamin E.
Cooking and eating
Because rapeseed oil has a high smoking point which makes it great for pan-frying, baking and roasting. It does have a completely different taste from olive oil but it can be used for dressings, drizzling and dipping.
How the oil is extracted
If you didn't know already, we stock Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil from Malton. Their oil is cold-pressed from the seeds that are harvested in August. The seeds are dried and then pressed in with a machine rather than chemicals to ensure that the oil retains all its nutrients. This process is only done once and then the oil is filtered a few times to remove any teeny bits of the seed. Did you know that the term 'extra-virgin' simply means the 'first press'? The rapeseed oil we stock is extra-virgin!

Refills, bottles and products
We've been stocking Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil pretty much since we opened. We stocked bottles of olive oil but were looking to stock more and more local products. The lovely Richard and Jason stocked us up with the lovely silver dispenser and 20 litres of oil to get going. We also stock several other products made with Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil such as salad dressings and mayonnaise.
All these products come directly to our shops from the farm in Malton so its really local and lovely friendly business to work with.
