Have you used a shampoo bar?

At The Refilling Station, we've always sold shampoo and conditioner bars from brands such as Friendly Soap and Alter/Native and these bars are pretty good value and as a result, we have sold loads! Some of those who have tried shampoo bars either love them or hate them. Those that hate often do so because their hair took on a waxy feel whilst the hair actually adjusted to the bar (transition phase).

We've introduced a new brand into the mix, Dolores and Rose for those who want a more luxury bar or perhaps want to buy one as a gift.

Dolores and Rose - Ethically Fabulous

These shampoo and conditioner bars are made here in Yorkshire using high-quality ingredients and essential oils to benefit your scalp and hair. They are hair type-specific which is great because those with coloured or dry hair seemed to struggle the most with shampoo bars.

They are a little pricier than the usual brands on the market but these bars are salon quality and have been developed by a hairdresser with bags of experience so I think they justify the higher price tag.

The bars are, as you would expect, cruelty-free, vegan and plastic-free and there is no transition period often associated with other shampoo bars. They are handmade here in Yorkshire.

Kirsty the Guinea Pig!

If you have met me, you will hopefully be able to see that I love my job, because I get to try lots of the products we sell (not the only reason obviously). I tried the Smooth and Shine bar on my naturally wavy fine hair. I simply lathered it up in my hand in the shower, scrubbed and rinsed. I was surprised and how clean my hair felt after using and the smell was amazing. I found I didn't really need a conditioner afterwards so I skipped it but obviously everyone's hair is different. I will definitely continue to use the bar and I think I will grab and Hair Hug when my bottle of Faith in Nature Conditioner has run out.
